Into the World films are no longer available to book. Our autumn programme 2020 ended on Thursday 26 November.
This strand is about all of us - the distant, the close, the intimate, the political - our worlds and their infinite appearances, challenges and dangers. Essential films with essential themes that take varied approaches to exploring our past, present and collective future.
In journeying around the Earth, let us encounter people, their fights, their fears, their stories. From China to Canada and Argentina, from England to France, from the Philippines to Thailand, from Angola to the former Soviet Union, these films search, investigate, ask questions, show and testify contemporary local and global struggles, remembering and learning from past battles in order to be ready for new fights.
“For many African filmmakers, cinema is a tool of revolution, a political education to transform consciences. It was part of the emergence of a Third World cinema seeking to decolonise thought to encourage radical changes in society” said Sarah Maldoror.
Let us enter into the world.
